That photo with a boot in midair set against the skyline of Manhattan? That’s Foster Huntington’s, a photographer with an obsession over American lifestyle and “the ideas, stories, and philosophy behind clothing.” He’s been capturing the rural and urban settings of America with his camera for some time. In his latest project, The Burning House, he gives up his lens and hands over the photo duty to his subjects and asks the simple question – If your house was burning, what would you bring with you? Similar to what makes other photo blogs intriguing is the glimpse you get into the possessions of individuals. This project however, is approached from a different perspective. Some of the items are anything but practical but the sentimental weight behind them is more than justified. The site just launched but it’s already off to a good start with contributions from David Coggins, Melissa Howard, Porter Hovey, and others.
