Snarkitecture is a collaborative practice founded by Daniel Arsham and Alex Mustone. It describes itself as “operating in territories between the disciplines of art and architecture.” The collective recently worked with Richard Chai in designing a retail experiment that was operational for only ten days. The interior used EPS architectural foam that was then carved to resemble a glacial cavernous space. This same process will be used in Snarkitecture’s new exhibition Dig, which opens at Storefront for Art and Architecture on March 1st. The entire gallery will be filled with the foam and then excavated using simple tools like hammers, picks, and chisels. This installation and performance is made possible by OHWOW.
