The Judd Foundation on Spring Street is currently undergoing major renovations and before May of last year, I had only seen Donald Judd’s work at Dia:Beacon and the Glass House. Not at all bad places to view his sculptures. But after traveling to Marfa, Texas and having the privilege to spend several days in a place he called home, it was quite a transcendental experience. For any Modernist fan, it is essential for you to make that journey. But for the New Yorkers that don’t plan to travel to Texas anytime soon, a major exhibition on Donald Judd will take place at David Zwirner. The gallery will bring together works from Judd “drawn from the artist’s seminal 1989 exhibition held at the Staatliche Kunsthalle Baden-Baden, Germany.” The exhibition will take over both galleries in Chelsea and will be on view from May 5 to June 25.
