Last week Gagosian Gallery announced the launch of its free quarterly iPad app. Working with @radical.media the team developed an entertaining and informative app that is part publication and part text book informative. The first edition includes features on John Chamberlain, John Currin, Vera Lutter, Kazimir Malevich, Pablo Picasso, Robert Rauschenberg, Richard Prince, and Rudolf Stingel. A video conversation between James Frey and curator Bob Rubin, 360 gallery views, and a calendar and shop. We gave the app a test drive, though the navigation seemed a bit confusing at first the instructional graphics helped guide us through. Unfortunately, the app appears to have been rushed to launch because it’s still very buggy, crashing numerous times, moving from section to section. Let’s hope an update will be released soon enough to clear these issues.
