A few years ago we saw Kehinde Wiley pack the Brooklyn Museum with his massive portraits and hundreds of people. His work process brings random people into his studio where they select a classical pose from art history books and get their picture taken. Kehinde then paints them at larger-than life scale on fields of re-imagined Baroque patterns. The resulting work is mesmerizing in concept and execution.
4 of his new pieces are on display at the Deitch.

We would like to see a group show placing Wiley’s work against that of Alexander Malamid. Perhaps at the MoMA in a few decades.

The show is outstanding and massive, I think it is more like 11 works though than 4”
