The Public Art Fund continues to feature playful art in the public space with the installation of The Ego and The Id by Franz West. The massive 20 feet high aluminum sculpture will greet viewers by inviting them to interact and engage with the artwork. This piece was originally created for a retrospective for West at The Baltimore Museum of Art. By extracting it from the confines of a museum, The Ego and The Id takes on an entirely new dynamic by exposing it to the streets of Manhattan. The Ego and The Id opens today at the Doris C. Freedman Plaza in Central Park.
