Just over an hour north of Manhattan in the small town of Ridgefield, Connecticut situates a museum set against an idyllic backdrop. Founded in 1964, The Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum is know for exhibiting emerging and established artists. Past exhibits include, Tom Sachs, Charlie White, Robert Lazzarini, and group shows that included Phil Frost, Barry McGee, and David Ellis. In 2003 the museum underwent an extensive expansion. Face with the difficult task of designing a contemporary museum within a historical district, the architects, TappĂ© Associates, were able to harmonize the museum’s design with its landscape. Looking ahead to next year, the schedule will include a simultaneous exhibition with Fritz Haeg of Edible Estate fame and Brian Donnelly, aka KAWS.
