Rob Forbes is on a mission to encourage people to drive less. After departing DWR in 2007, he launched Studio Forbes to “further his interests in design, culture, and commerce.” Forbes’s enthusiasm in bicycles and admiration for cities like Copenhagen, Amsterdam, and Basel led him to form PUBLIC Bikes. This April will see the launch of the company beginning with two models based on European designed city bikes. If you live in the Bay Area, you can visit their offices for a test ride. New Yorkers will have to wait till May, when PUBLIC sets up shop inside Tretorn’s SoHo store. The bikes are female friendly and start at $650. More details to come after the launch.
