While much of the design world is dominated by designers from Europe and Japan, America has seen little representation in the past decade. So in 2008 a loose collective of designers formed The American Design Club, an organization set to promote and foster young talent and to provide opportunities for them to show and sell their work. To date AmDC has organized five exhibitions with the sixth one on the way. USE ME! will be on view next month to coincide with ICFF (May 14-17) and will be displayed at the second annual Noho Design District organized by Sight Unseen. And from April 16-21st, four of the members from AmDC will be working at the Open Studios at the Museum of Art and Design to “create original-design pieces.” All four designs will be on view on the evening of the 21st where a discussion will take place, read more about the event here.
