It’s nice to see designers cross the boundaries between the high and low end. Dutch designer Hella Jongerius has managed to do just that. In a collaboration with Unicef, Ikea commissioned Jongerius to design a series of textile wall hangings. Based on animals from Swedish fairy tales, the collection includes a fox, rabbit and goat. The wall hangings are hand sewn and produced by women in India all of whom are part of a program meant to encourage women to start small sewing businesses. Read more about it on Dezeen.
This is the second project Jongerius has worked on with Ikea. The first was in 2006 where she designed a series of vases for the PS line. via Racked.
