Joe Colombo Design and the Invention of the Future

Previous1 of 2Next

This is Joe Colombo, the pipe smoking, Italian, space age modernist, bad-ass, mostly known for his bold plastic pieces for Kartell. Through his short career (he was only 41 when he died) Colombo developed some of the most memorable designs in lighting, furniture and product design. Though some of his pieces may borderline kitsch, others have stood the test of time, primarily his lighting design for Oluce. I stumbled upon some hi-res photos from a 2008 exhibition at the Kunsthaus Graz featuring some classic images of Colombo and his work. Add these to your blog, tumblr, ffffound, and flickr accounts.
