Given the significance and importance of the prolific couple, it is surprising that a film devoted to the life and work of the Eames has taken this long to be made. Jason Cohn and Bill Jersey’s new film, EAMES: The Architect and the Painter explores the many facets of their body of work. Interviews include Charles’s daughter Lucia, grandson Eames Demetrios, and the founder of TED, Richard Saul Wurman. Former Eames Office designers like Jeannine Oppewall, Deborah Sussman and Gordon Ashby will also be interviewed giving their personal accounts and insight into the studio’s activities. The film is currently making the festival rounds and will make its New York premier at the Architecture and Design Film Festival. The dvd is scheduled to be released December 13th.
