There’s no denying that Wes Anderson’s movies are highly stylized, going to great lengths with the details in the set design and costumes. Many may wonder where his influences come from in developing his style. The Museum of Moving Image Source recently concluded its five part series called The Substance of Style on Anderson’s movies. It analyzes every bit of his influences from writers, to music, to film making techniques. Running just under 50 minutes, it’s an exhaustive and lengthy examination on Anderson’s career. Each video segment is approximately ten minutes in length with breaking down key individuals that have shaped his movies.
