Last week we had the pleasure of being introduced to furniture designer and sculptor, Christopher Kurtz by our friend Chris over at Graphic Hug. After a great dinner conversation about art school hijinks we were intrigued to find out more about his work. The pieces are iconic, mixing clean lines and geometric forms. He combines textures of natural wood grain and sheepskin for just the right amount of character. The pieces are handcrafted in the Hudson Valley, primarily using domestic hardwoods. Christopher was kind enough to send over some pictures from his collection. The above images includes the Quarter Round Side Chair, Circle Arm Easy Chair and the Early Arm Chair. For further information on his work you can contact Christopher Kurtz Studios directly at christopherkurtz.studio@gmail.com

Simply beautiful! Is there a book published about Mr. Kurtz's work or an article in Fine Woodworking? Since I live in Germany, I don't think I will have a chance to see his work, unless I travel to th U.S.”
