Artist Chris Johanson and arts and cultural organization Disjecta may be putting on the first music festival of it’s kind. This Friday will see the debut of the Quiet Music Festival of Portland, a showcase of bands that will rock softer. Johanson explains

“I love music, but don’t like to be around loud music anymore. Quiet music is so calm and peaceful and yin. I find that quiet music is restorative and want to celebrate it through having a concert in a community art space. Sharing it in this context will show how nice it is that music does not have to be so loud to create an emotional experience.”

The festival includes Stephen Malkmus, Kyp Malone from TV on the Radio, Johanson’s band Sun Foot and many others. Visit Disjecta for the full rundown and schedule.
