New Yorkers have no shortage of festivals to choose from this time of year as noted in our recent posts. Whether its film, food, or arts and culture, there’s more than enough to stimulate the mind and palette. The New Yorker Festival is one we look forward to and one of the biggest. Packing a cultural wallop of speakers, discussions, and performances into the three day event that rivals TED. Where else can you find a forum that includes Salmon Rushdie and Portlandia? Malcolm Gladwell, no stranger to the magazine, will be on hand to speak about Birmingham, possibly giving some insight into his new book on underdogs. Other speakers and discussions span the gamut that include Gary Shteyngart, Patti Smith, Christian Louboutin, Ben Stiller, Lena Dunham, Rene Redzepi,Vampire Weekend, Portlandia Live with Fred Armisen and Carrie Brownstein, a sneak preview of Cloud Atlas, and so much more. The New Yorker Festival happens from October 5-7 with tickets going on sale at noon today.
