The biggest drawback to the beautifully written and produced Eye magazine is that it takes 4 months to arrive on our stoop. To satiate the hunger for continuous stimulation, Eye has seriously stepped up their online game. Utilizing flickr, twitter, and their blog to deliver sneak-peaks from upcoming issues, notices of design events around the world, and web-only essays and interviews they’re delivering compelling content without cannibalizing their print work. In fact, seeing the sheets on press makes us hungry for that fresh ink smell they bundle into the packaging. All of this and we have to hope that they are planning to rehabilitate their very 90’s main site to serve as a hub for this new approach.

The flickr sneak peaks include some images from a feature interview with with Ian Anderson of The Designers Republic to be in issue 71.

It’s good to see experts in the field of graphic design reportage and thinking carve a niche on the web in spite of the endless ‘eye candy’ rss feeds I’ve been collecting of late.
