A retrospective on George Condo titled “Mental State” will be on view at The New Museum starting January 26th.

Product design in America gets some recognition from The United States Postal Service. They will be releasing a new set of stamps called Pioneers of American Industrial Design this July.

Ace Hotel launches a new weekly film series starting this Sunday at Liberty Hall. Spike Jonze and Lance Bangs will be present on January 23rd to screen Tell Them Anything You Want.

01 Magazine’s latest issue celebrates the Independents. People working in the field of music, photography, fashion, graphic design and publishing. We enjoy the amount of real estate the photographs occupy in every feature, similar to Boston Globe’s, The Big Picture.

A mini site just launched for Sofia Coppola’s Somewhere. This is separate from the movie’s main site which features video outtakes and interviews along with on set photography from Coppola herself. (via The Director’s Burea)

2010 Grain Edit Holiday Giveaway Bash

Grain Edit returns with another one of their giant giveaways. Their holiday edition will be just as big as their previous. Posters, prints, and publications. Our buddies from Friends of Type and enormouschampion are participating.

Tyler Brule is just getting started with Monocle. Though the magazine is only three years old, he’s already accomplished so much, product collaborations, a quarterly newsprint edition, a weekly online show, and four retail outlets. Next up is a television show on Bloomberg, he’s doing it all. And even though he vehemently opposes apps, he almost begrudgingly reveals that there will come a time when Monocle will have one of its own. Read more in NY Mag.
