James Beard announced its nominations on Tuesday and among the best chef and restaurant categories, there’s a category for graphic and restaurant design. Our favorite goes to The National designed by Love & War.

Barry McGee, Stephen Powers, and Todd James return with an update to the Street Market titled “Street” aka “Donut Time,” at LA MOCA. This will be part of Deitch’s massive street art retrospective, “Art In the Streets,” opens April 17.

Maira Kalman’s first museum survey will be on view at The Jewish Museum. Various Illuminations (of a Crazy World) opens Tonight.

Stone Barns Center will launch a series of talks moderated by Dan Barber discussing issues on sustainable food production and the future of agriculture.

Friends of Type contributes to Jessica Hische’s Daily Drop Cap.

Kyle Field and Thomas Campbell will take over the Park Life gallery in Space Cake. A month long exhibition that includes installations, workshops, and music performances. Opening tonight.

In conjunction with the release of Chronicle’s book on San Francisco’s famous bakery, Tartine, they produced a wonderful video last year with baker Chad Robertson. If only television programs would be just as good.

The OSHA certified first aid kit from Best Made Axe Co. might possibly be the best designed first aid kit. (via Arkitip)

Spike Jonze continues his short film run with “Scenes From ‘The Suburbs’.” The film is a collaborative effort with Arcade Fire and will premiere at the Berlin Film Festival on February 16.

Two week old, The Coveted has changed its name to The Coveteur. Not nearly as new, over in Germany is Freunde von Freunden (Friends of Friends) a peek into the lives of creatives living in Germany.

United Arrows from Japan will be at the Brooklyn Flea this weekend. Their buyer, Poggy, will be showcasing “special favorites” from the staff.

You don’t need the Bloomberg channel to catch an episode of Monocle on Bloomberg. Each episode will be archived on the site.
