Stylepark takes us through the history of Thonet, tubular steel furniture, and introduces us to their new product, the “Lum,” an LED tubular steel lamp.

Kiosk brings us back to Japan with their new offerings from the East. A reception will be held this evening from 7-9pm at their Soho shop. (95 Spring Street, 2nd floor)

DesignMiami/ takes place earlier in the month of December this year, from the 1st to the 5th. More news to come on all the events during the five day festival.

To increase its presence in the East Coast, Vans is set to open their 24,000-square-foot warehouse in Williamsburg this Saturday. The venue will be used as a performance space and art gallery, however, most of the events will be privately held. Read more about Vans’s initiative in The Wall Street Journal.

Sol Lewitt inspires Brooklyn chocolate makers Mary & Matt in their latest project. The colorful stripes from Lewitt’s Wall Drawing 419 was the basis for a series of chocolates made by the duo. Be sure to check out their commercial as well.

Apartamento magazine launches a new division called Everyday Life Books. The first in the series is an English version of The Mug Book, originally published in 2008, for Iittala.

Robin Standefer and Stephen Alesch of Roman & Williams are profiled this week in New York Magazine’s Home Design issue.

Aaron Rose is spotted everywhere these days. His latest project is a short film shot entirely on an iPhone made especially for Incase titled “Kreuzberg.”

Seems like the new Gap logo has feelings. After the constant bashing on design blogs and forums, it has decided to go on twitter to voice its opinion @GapLogo. Oh it also has a Blip.fm account.

Redu and The Hole have joined forces to bring Re:Form School. They’ve taken over an abandoned school in Nolita and converted it into a gigantic art show. Opens this Saturday.

More than a month out, this is an early heads up. This year’s NY Art Book Fair looks to be an incredible one with more than 200 exhibitors including Opening Ceremony, Palais de Tokyo, Nieves, Cinders, Ooga Booga, and much more. November 5-7 at PS1.

Gia Coppola continues her work with fashion companies, this time for Orla Kiely’s Spring/Summer 2011 collection. Coppola’s made a short film titled “From London with Love.”

Watch this incredible short film on the Rapha Gentlemen’s Race, an epic “unsanctioned and unmarshalled” race through Oregon’s coastal, forest and country roads.

Syd Mead, the visual artist behind the look of Blade Runner and Tron has designed the interior to a new restaurant in Manhattan called FoodParc.

New York’s first ever film festival celebrating architecture and design will be held at Tribeca Cinemas from October 14-17.

Geoff McFetridge’s first New York solo show You Can’t Put a Hat on a Hole in the Sky at Half Gallery. Opening reception: Tuesday, Sept. 21, 6-8 p.m.

Australian artist Anthony Lister paints the window of the Standard New York. This is the second artist installation for the hotel, following Julia Chiang’s “All for You.”

Marc Newson’s Transport at Gagosian. The exhibition will be showing the Aquariva designed by Newson, now on view till October 16.

Were Playshapes used for this animation? Great event for a great cause. Re:Form School is a benefit art show with the purpose to help fund public schools. The show will featuring over 150 artists including Aaron Rose, Chris Johanson, Shepard Fairey, Tim Barber, and Swoon. . October 9-11th at 233 Mott Street.

Jeffrey Deitch confirmed plans to have a show surrounding street art next year at MOCA’s Geffen Contemporary. He’ll be work with Aaron Rose and Fab 5 Freddy to co curate the exhibit.

Levi’s second collaboration for Opening Ceremony is out now and I have to say I like what they did with the classic denim jacket. Photo of the jacket after the jump.
