Atlantic Avenue is constantly changing. The end of this street divides three of the most affluent neighborhoods in Brooklyn – Boerum Hill, Cobble Hill and Brooklyn Heights. Strangely enough, it was only recently that Manhattan retailers began to notice its potential. In the past two years, Steven Alan, Jonathan Adler, and now Barneys have made their way into the neighborhood. However, small retailers still thrive. Owners Zak and Gillette Wing opened their antique store, Holler & Squall, at the end of the avenue. This once forgotten block has been reinvigorated with the opening of Pier 5 at Brooklyn Bridge Park. The beautiful shop deals in furniture, jewelry, and decorative objects from America’s past. Zak and Gillette aren’t settled on any particular era, instead, they’re more attracted to the aesthetic and quality in the objects. Have a look inside Holler & Squall.
