Saugerties Lighthouse

The Scout thrives on unique experiences. Back in November of 2007, The NY Times published an article titled “Spending the Night Under the Lighthouse Beacon on the Hudson,” in which a photo of a building with glowing lights sat in isolation, headlined the story. This photo was of the Saugerties Lighthouse, one of the very few lighthouses in the United States where guests can spend a night. Only 29 according to the book “Staying at a Lighthouse: America’s Romantic and Historic Lighthouse Inns,” and New Yorkers are privilege enough to be living close to one within driving distance. About 100 miles north of Manhattan, the Saugerties Lighthouse caresses the edge of the Hudson River. However because this is New York, it’s highly competitive to reserve a night. 2009 is practically filled with only several availabilities in December. Reservations will be made available for 2010 starting starting next month.
