Don’t expect the same old bacon and eggs here—the much-praised brunch at Prune is always an adventure, from the mystery of wondering how long you’ll have to wait for a table to navigating your way through the cramped space. But the fantastic food is definitely worth it. If it just isn’t brunch without eggs, go for the unusual toasted caraway seed and sour cream omelette. Or mix things up with the handmade lamb sausages and raw oysters, served with grilled bread and stewed tomatoes. A fluffy, airy Dutch-style pancake is unlike anything you’ve ever experienced at an IHOP. The bloody marys are a must, and there’s a variety for everyone (try the Chicago Matchbox, with homemade lemon vodka and pickled green beans, Brussels sprouts and radishes). Dinner features an equally unusual menu, from monkfish liver served with buttered toast and braised rabbit in vinegar sauce.
