Read MoreSeveral blocks south from bustling Smith Street sits a quiet Japanese restaurant in Cobble Hill called Hibino. The restaurant is a collaborative effort between two chefs and a graphic designer. After working several years together, Hirohisa Hayashi, Masaru Fukuda, and Sooja Lee teamed up to open Hibino. The Kyoto inspired restaurant specializes in daily obanzais, or small dishes that include traditional Japanese vegetables, soft shell crab rolls, baked stuffed shiitake mushrooms, fresh cured long island mackerel sashimi, and many other surprising small plates. For diners that prefer full entrees, Hibino’s menu also include their take on the classics like teriyaki chicken, braised short ribs, and broiled salmon served with a sweet Kyoto miso sauce. Be sure to check their website for daily specials and hours if you choose to dine on Sunday.
