Bar Milano

A sleek, bustling addition to the ‘hood, Bar Milano is turning out elegantly prepared, upscale food with terrific service and a buzzy environment. While it’s hard to hear your dining companions in the jam-packed, incredibly loud bar section, you’ll be too busy scarfing down pickled trout with beets and horseradish, fried oysters with cabbage-wrapped farro packages, and perfectly cooked pasta with cuttlefish and razor clams to care. The fancier restaurant section is calmer, but the people-watching (Mario Batali seems to be a regular here) isn’t half as good. There’s a nice cocktail list featuring top-notch ingredients, and of course, plenty of wines—and an accommodating sommelier to help you pick through them all.
