Read MoreThere are salons and there are barbershops. Persons of Interest is a barber shop that understand the need for a casual, friendly and comfortable place for men to care for their grooming essentials. Owner Steve Marks took over a 30 year old institution, Sals, a neighborhood barbershop located on bustling Smith Street in Carroll Gardens and updated it into a stylish and inviting space. Inheriting some of the kitsch but transforming it into a thing of its own. The mural of an ocean coastline is all original, including the sail boat tacked perfectly in place – blending the overall look with vintage finds from Brimfield and beyond. The shop is small and can accommodate up to four people. Take a seat in one of the old Takara Belmont chairs for a cut, straight razor shave, or both. If you find yourself waiting, dig through the periodicals and grab a beverage from a well-stocked cooler with beer from Brooklyn Brewery, Boyland Seltzer and Coke. The space is inviting, the cut, precise and clean, the service, top notch and the atmosphere is unpretentious. Though walk-ins are welcome, we suggest making an appointment, it gets busy during the evenings and weekends.
