Step into Ale et Ange and you feel like you’ve stepped into your best friend’s apartment… That is, if your best friend is a clothing designer with a fondness for soul and jazz. Meet Osoré Oyagha, your new best friend. Launched earlier this year, Ale et Ange is a partnership between Osoré and Eloise Simonet, the designers behind the men’s and women’s clothing label.

As you go down the steps and into the basement through the bright red door, you’ll find yourself in, not an apartment, but a retail space that houses their clothing line amongst other special items. It’s an intimate experience, personalized by their sense of style and design. Because the operation only consists of Oyagha and Simonet the production is small and tightly controlled. So that means you’ll only be able to find Ale et Ange in their store. The collection include essential basics like button down shirts, t-shirts and dresses with attention to detail. These details may not be so apparent to the layperson but are especially important to Oyagha and Simonet. This includes unique stitching around the shoulders, button detailing on collars and dead stock fabrics used for ties and on selected shirts. Best of all, everything is locally made. Along with the classics, they also have a line of accessories that include hats, scarves, and eyeglass frames. Vintage Omega watches and hand sewn shoes from Quoddys are added to the mix. To ensure that you not only look good but smell good, a line of apothecary items are all beautifully displayed on a shelf next to a claw foot porcelain bathtub. The space is so inviting that you may just want to linger for a while.
